Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractic adjustments have been reducing and eliminating pain for more than a century. They have proven to be a safe and effective way to treat both acute and chronic pain non-invasively. At Progressive Integrated Healthcare, we provide treatments that help control, reduce and even eliminate pain entirely. Dr. Adams’s innovative approach to chiropractic adjustments will reduce your pain while truly rehabilitating your body’s function.

Our goal at Progressive Integrated Healthcare is to reduce your pain as well as improve the overall function of your body. As a family nurse practitioner and chiropractor, Dr. Adams is a big believer in patient education. He doesn’t simply address your pain and go; he truly becomes your partner in health. By educating you about your health, activities and overall lifestyle, he helps you improve your quality of life—for the long run.

Why Chiropractic Adjustments?

Patients seek out chiropractic adjustments for many reasons, but primarily for relief from pain and tension in the musculoskeletal system. You might think of a chiropractor as someone who cracks the joints in their patients’ necks and spines. While spinal manipulation is a part of it, chiropractic medicine is so much more.

Chiropractic care is both a science and a technique for promoting natural healing. Our chiropractic adjustment services are carefully designed to help patients of all ages, including pregnant women and migraine sufferers.

Some of the most common conditions we treat with chiropractic adjustments include:

  • Shooting Pain. When the spine is out of alignment, it can cause discs to bulge and put pressure on the sciatic nerve. This causes shooting pain from the lower back down the buttocks, thigh, and sometimes all the way to the foot on the affected side.
  • Tightness. Constant tension can cause knots to form in the muscles of the neck, shoulders and back. This tightness is the cause of common tension headaches and can even contribute to migraines.
  • Neck Pain. Many of our clients sit hunched over a computer for hours at a time. This, along with frequent cell phone use, can lead to a modern condition called “text neck”. Car accidents are another leading cause of neck pain.
  • Lower Back Pain. Lumbar pain, or lower back pain, can be caused by improper lifting technique, poor posture, pregnancy, or even sleeping the wrong way. It is the most common type of back pain.
  • Spinal Misalignment. A misaligned spine can cause much more than just back pain. Your spine dictates your posture, which in turn affects your balance and core strength. Chiropractic adjustments can bring it back into alignment with just a few applications.
  • Scoliosis Treatment. There is evidence that spinal realignment and massage therapy can reduce the amount of spinal curvature in scoliosis patients.
  • Acid Reflux. It might sound odd, but studies have shown that chiropractic adjustments improve and even cure colic and acid reflux in children. A crooked spine can put pressure on the stomach and nerves throughout the digestive system, causing chronic stomach upset.
  • High Blood Pressure. Chiropractic adjustments are beneficial for patients suffering from high blood pressure. Once the body is in alignment, it tends to release the tension it was holding on to. Blood pressure has been known to regulate as a result.

This list is by no means exhaustive. When you come in for your initial visit, you will be given a thorough physical examination that will help Dr. Adams form an individualized treatment plan for you. The severity and cause of your pain will determine which therapies work best for you and how often you should return for follow-ups.
